Canadian kickboxing champion Hadi Ghoniem
Episode # 4 A fun interview in St Johns Newfoundland with current 3-time kickboxing champion Hady Ghoniem fighting out of Rock Athletics. Hady nick name
Here’s a little about me, my name is Willy Cooke and I was born in Toronto July 27, 66. My folks are from Newfoundland, so you may notice some of my quirkiness come out in my story.
I come from a family of four, my mom, dad, Brian who is 3 years younger than me. I also have a brother that’s 10 years my junior. Myself, mom, dad, Brian and I moved out West from Toronto to Powell River BC, Canada (100 miles north of Vancouver BC). I was 6 years old 10 years later Darren was born, as time went on, I realized how special he was to me. My whole family chirp each other all the time but, friendly banter between us just like sports fans defended their teams.
While growing up I Played all kinds of sports, but played soccer which was my first love. After grade 12 I went college and played soccer. School is not my thing. After a year I moved back to Powell River, I had a great job opportunity working in the Pulp and Paper Mill, which gave me the opportunity to travel the World and play high level amateur soccer for Powell River Villa. Fourteen years later transferred to the Crofton Paper Mill on Vancouver Island team, I played for Nanaimo United. I felt very fortunate to be at the right place at the right time to win another VISL league title. The three best things that happened to my life are first and foremost is having my daughter, quit drinking Oct 27, 2019, and lastly was moving out of Powell River.
I currently live in Vancouver and have 2 fantastic jobs, which I love. It also gives me the flexibility to be the host of Willy’s Sports Talk and travel the World.
I have always been a huge fan of all sports. However, I am a die-hard Edmonton oiler’s fan but regardless I will be honest and neutral about all teams.
I have been very fortunate to have been to the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals, UEFA Cup and Champions League finals. Next on my bucket list is the Super Bowl which I have booked for 2025 series. Along with Tennis US open and the World Cup soccer final. You will see me at all these major events interviewing fans and athletes. Life is about having fun and interviewing people is a passion of mine. Way back when I used to drink, I would interview my Buds for laughs, I still do it for fun. I don’t plan on stopping and I plan on creating new chapters and memories in life. If you want to know more about that…just ask. For me life is all we make it and I plan on living it to the fullest, for me that is the reason that keeps me moving forward…not who has the most money and toys. In my opinion it’s about who has the best life stories.
Through these interviews, gatherings and pop ups around my hometown or yours you will see the essence of who Willy Cooke really is. I know you will enjoy hearing and learning about the fans and athletes from the young to the old Thank you so much in advance for your support and being part of my story. I look forward to possibly interviewing you.
Love William
